Super Bowl 47 schedule: Busy week leading to big game

The teams and the schedule are set, and preparations for Super Bowl XLVII are truly underway. The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers will both head to New Orleans for the big game on Sunday, Feb. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, as it has in years past, but there are plenty of other things on the schedule for the leadup.

San Francisco is scheduled to arrive on Sunday after a week of practicing in Santa Clara, while the Ravens will arrive on Monday. Both teams will hold press conferences on the evening of their arrival, and on Tuesday, Jan. 29, the NFL will host Media Day.

During media day, both teams will get a full hour of exposure as multiple players get interviewed and share the spotlight. The session will begin at 11 a.m. ET, and the 49ers will get the opening session.

On top of that, Jim and John Harbaugh will hold a joint press conference on Friday, the first of its kind in Super Bowl history. It’s unlikely much about the game will be divulged in that one, obviously, but it’s still worth noting.

On Friday and Saturday, there will be a concert series for fans on Friday and Saturday. At 9 p.m. ET on Friday, the VH1 Best Super Bowl Concert Ever will take place at The Sugar Mill and will also be on VH1. On Saturday, the CMT Crossroads Special begins at 11 p.m. ET, and will air live on CMT as well.

The 2nd Annual NFL Honors award show will be held at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday as multiple NFL awards are handed out. That will air on CBS. As for the Super Bowl itself, pre-game coverage will begin at 11 a.m. ET and pre-kick coverage will begin at 6 p.m.. Alicia Keys will perform the National Anthem and Beyonce will perform at halftime.
