St. Louis Rams And Kansas City Chiefs Participate In Preseason Rivalry Of Convenience
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a St. Louis Rams fan get up in a Chiefs fan’s face, or vice versa, and I’m not sure I ever will—in my experience this is one of those geographical rivalries based more in whether or not you sell your Chiefs-fan friends and relatives your tickets and risk pissing off the Edward Jones Dome faithful than any inherent disdain from the other side. With the Rams just 16 years old and the rivalry lacking a Don Denkinger moment, this particular I-70 Series just sort of exists.
With that in mind, it happens to exist in week three of the preseason, when the Rams’ starters will get their longest look yet as the team attempts to figure out its complicated, not-especially-rewarding wide receiver situation. Sam Bradford will have another week to try to show off the new Josh McDaniels system, and Steven Jackson will have another week to convince those of us worried about his being run into the ground in 2010 that he’s still got some speed.
Oh—and it’s all happening in Kansas City. So that’s exciting, I guess.
