Sports Betting on the NFL

If you are in to online football betting there is a ton of money that will change hands this football season.  A lot of people love to bet on the NFL and a few people are fairly successful at it.  I have never made a bet on an NFL game.  I do participate in a pick-em contest here on RamsFootball and you can see from my record on there why I do not put my hard earned money on NFL games.

Because I stink!

If I was to bet money on a regular basis I would be in the poor house.  But, there are some people who play the Pick-em contest and are regularly at the top of the leader boards.  I wonder if those people were to make some calculated bets on the NFL if they would make a little money on the side.  The Pick-em contest is run against the same spread that Vegas sets so there is no real advantage over playing our for fun contest over what happens in the betting world.

I just wish back in 1999 I would have put $1,000 on the Rams to win the Superbowl that year.  At the start of the season they were 100 – 1 to win it all.  That would have been a nice return on the team that went on to win the Superbowl over the Titans and become known as “The Greatest Show on Turf”.

Who do you think will be the surprise team this season? Every year there is one team that comes out of the shadows and surprises everyone with a winning season and sometimes a deep playoff run. If you can figure out who that team is you can get some very favorable odds.  make sure and stay away from teams that have a large following, you need a true dark horse team that can sneak up on the division and make a deep playoff run.
