NFL Power Rankings: Rams finish at No. 22

It’s been a long decade for St. Louis Rams fans, as the days of the “Greatest Show on Turf” continue to fade into the distance.

The Rams have been one of the most consistently mediocre teams in the NFL ever since, something made clear by their finish in the final batch of SB Nation’s NFL Power Rankings:

22. St. Louis Rams (LW: 17, 7-8-1): The Rams haven’t finished above .500 since 2003. So close.

St. Louis finished in the middle of the pack in nearly every statistical category in 2012: 18th in passing yards, 19th in rushing yards, 15th in opposing passing yards and 15th in opposing rushing yards.

For Rams fans, the most worrying concern may be the lack of progress for Sam Bradford, who completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 3,702 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Those aren’t bad numbers by any means, but they pale in comparison to what Robert Griffin III did. St. Louis had a chance to draft the rookie sensation, but opted to take a bounty of draft picks from the Redskins to move down.

For the Rams to break out of their long period of mediocrity, they’ll need Bradford to take the next step and they’ll need to turn the picks Washington gave them into a championship-level core around their franchise QB.
