NFL Mock Draft 2013: Rams eyeing Zach Ertz to solve offensive woes?

While the Rams finished 25th in the NFL in scoring last season, it doesn’t seem like tight end Lance Kendricks was a part of the problem. His 42 catches for 519 yards and four touchdowns was more than adequate for a second-year player, but that doesn’t mean that St. Louis won’t be looking for more help at the position. After all, the Patriots don’t regret having their two big men catching passes. (When they’re both healthy, that is.)

For that reason, CBS Sports’ Rob Rang projected Stanford tight end Zach Ertz to the Rams in his latest mock draft. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to get Sam Bradford some more weapons:

The Rams already boast a talented mismatch at tight end in Lance Kendricks but the 6-6, 252-pound Ertz has the size and strength to contribute as a blocker as well as threaten the seam.

Rang projected Ertz to the Rams at pick 22, one of the selections acquired from the Redskins in last year’s bid for Robert Griffin, while he projected that St. Louis would use their own pick (16th overall) on guard Chance Warmack out of Alabama.

Both picks should instantly upgrade a still-woeful offense, one that is not at all reminiscent of the Greatest Show on Turf, and complement a fast-rising defense. That would make the NFC West ridiculously difficult to navigate through.
