NFL Mock Draft 2013: Rams could target Chance Warmack

For the St. Louis Rams to improve under the guidance of quarterback Sam Bradford, they’ll need to keep him upright.

Who the Rams draft in April could help in that department.

In his latest mock draft, SB Nation’s Matthew Fairburn predicts the Rams will draft Alabama guard Chance Warmack with the No. 16 pick in the first round:

The Rams are taking steps in the right direction. The offensive line needs to start progressing if the team is going to continue to maneuver its way through a tough NFC West. Chance Warmack is a mauler on the inside. He’s a rare guard prospect, making him worthy of consideration in the middle of the first round.

Warmack would find a place on the Rams’ offensive line if drafted in the first round. Bradford would like the help, as he was sacked 35 times in 16 games this season. In 2011 the line was even worse, as he was sacked 36 times in just 10 games.

Warmack, who is considered the No. 1 guard in this year’s draft by NFLDraftScout.com, checks in at 6’2″ and 322 pounds. He has started 39 games for Alabama over the last three seasons.

This season, Warmack has helped the Crimson Tide average 38.5 points per game. Alabama has also rushed for an average of 224 yards per game with Warmack’s help.
