Marcus Lattimore informs 49ers he intends to retire

Marcus Lattimore retired Wednesday before the running back ever appeared in an NFL game. Though 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh considered him the steal of the 2013 draft, Lattimore couldn’t recover from knee injuries.
