Danario Alexander Has One Game Left To Make The St. Louis Rams

Danario Alexander was the would-be number-one receiver on the St. Louis Rams in 2010; now it looks like he might not even make the team in 2011. With Brandon Gibson looking better each week, Mike Sims-Walker and Donnie Avery looking on target to be solid contributors, and Mardy Gilyard getting most of the special teams reps Turf Show Times has some scenarios in mind for the regular season roster, and none of them look good for the former Mizzou star and his absurdly touchy knee.

You rarely see a roster spot come down to the end of the last game of the preseason, but it looks like that’s what we’ll see this year. I’d like to see Alexander stick around, because he still has more potential—not just in the future, but on a game-to-game basis—than any other wide receiver on the roster. But there’s a glut of receivers and without being able to count on Alexander from game-to-game it’s hard to make use of that potential.

And we haven’t even talked about whether they’ll sign Mark Clayton yet.
