The St. Louis Rams’ Sam Bradford has reached the middle of the fantasy football 2011 rankings pack.

Are you the kind of guy who drafts nine to 15 running backs before choosing your first quarterback? Have you neglected to even print out your 2011 fantasy football rankings for quarterbacks? (Note: Jeff George and Rick Mirer are no longer in the NFL.) If so, have I got a mid-rounds maybe-starting quarterback for you: Sam Bradford, noted savior of the St. Louis Rams. He might not put up great numbers, but he’ll get a ton of attempts and the offense, thanks to Josh McDaniels, will run through him. Josh McDaniels! He made Kyle Orton awesome!

Bradford was a speculative pick as a backup last year, and it worked really well for the speculators—he put up great counting stats. As a starter he’s equally speculative this year, but if you’ve drafted every running back in the NFC West already beggars can’t be choosers.

If you’re the other guy, who picked Peyton Manning first overall and is now worried about what you’ll do week one, Bradford is also a totally overpowered pick as a backup. If you pick two guys who are kind of like Bradford you’ll be able to make a good quarterback out of them—if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to trade one to another running-back-superfan.
